the Broker-in-Charge at McAlister Preferred Properties. He is a resident of downtown Charleston with
his wife Mary Cutler Baarcke. He is a
native of Mt. Pleasant and a graduate of The University of the South at Sewanee
where he majored in Economics and minored in Political Science. Charles attended
Porter-Gaud School locally for grades 1- 12, thus earning status in the institutions 12 Year Society.
Charles
practices residential brokerage in downtown Charleston, the area beaches, Mt Pleasant, James Island, West Ashley, and the other surrounding
suburbs. In addition, Charles is active
in the commercial real estate community and has nearing completion of his CCIM
designation (Certified Commercial Investment Member).
In
his spare time, Charles and his wife like to spend time with their dogs, a
Labrador Retriever and a King Charles Spaniel. He is an avid golfer and plays mostly at Yeamans Hall Club in
Hanahan. Charles has a great love for
the outdoors and likes to hunt dove, duck and deer as well as fish, preferably
with a fly rod.

Champ Smith
was born and raised in Charleston and spent his summers on the beach of
Sullivan's Island and the winters in downtown Charleston. He attended Charleston Day School and then
College Preparatory High School. He
spent his college years locally at The Citadel and The College of
Charleston.
After his
education, Champ worked as a captain and mate on sportfishing boats and
traveled the world fishing premier sportfishing locales such as St. Thomas,
Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Australia, Africa, and the Azores to name a
few.
After 10
years of fishing, he returned home to Charleston and married Edith Royall and
lived in Awendaw, a small coastal town about 30 miles north of Charleston. After the birth of their first son, they
moved back to Mt. Pleasant and have remained ever since. Champ and Edith have 2 children, Sea 10 and
Ellery 6; both attend school in Mt. Pleasant.
